Archer, my youngest, who keeps me on my toes 24/7, was diagnosed with autism shortly after he turned 3. He faces many challenges, and one of the biggest is eloping from our house at any time of day.

As his mother, eloping is my greatest fear. I knew I needed a security system that could be customized for his specific needs and adjusted as those needs and behaviors changed.

After speaking with the owners about my son and his challenges, they were more than happy to help create a plan to keep him safe. We installed window and door contacts that alert me to the exact point of exit he used. Each contact is individually labeled — front door, back door, and even the specific window he may have opened. We also added a doorbell camera and an outdoor camera to our system.

We have had Stones as our security system provider for over two years, and we have added to the system twice since the initial installation. As Archer’s needs and behaviors change, so does our security system.

For my son, knowing the exact point of exit and being able to see exactly which direction he went is extremely important, especially since we live on the outskirts of town near a lake. I have caught him many times on camera eloping, and I was able to speak directly through the camera to tell him to go back inside the house.

I also love that I can access the entire system from my phone. Even when I am away and someone else is caring for him, it gives me peace of mind to check the system and see that nothing has been opened.
